Outback Power and Haiti Tec: A Meeting of Minds and Innovation

On a recent trip, I was fortunate enough to combine forces with Outback Power’s personnel, and together we embarked on a journey to one of Haiti’s educational gems.

Back in 2017, during Outback Power’s annual visit to Top Power Haiti, the team made a significant pit stop: a visit to Haiti Tec, also known as Centre de Formation Technique et Professionnelle. Renowned as one of the country’s leading technical schools, Haiti Tec is more than just an institution; it’s a beacon of progress and innovation in the Haitian educational landscape.

What was particularly heartening was witnessing a diverse group of students, especially the commendable representation of women immersing themselves in the study of renewable energy. It was clear that Haiti Tec is not just training the next generation of technicians but also championing the cause of gender equality in the STEM fields.

And among the state-of-the-art equipment that these budding professionals had access to was Outback’s very own FP2. Boasting a robust capacity with its pair of 3.6Kw @ 48Vdc inverters, the FP2 (7.2Kw inverter) stood as a testament to the quality of tools at the students’ disposal.

In essence, the visit to Haiti Tec, in collaboration with Outback Power’s team, highlighted the convergence of quality education, top-tier equipment, and a passionate group of future professionals eager to drive the renewable energy sector forward.

Outback Power’s Insightful Journey to Haiti Tec

Haiti Tec, a cornerstone of technical education in the region, not only boasts an impressive curriculum but also stands out for its hands-on training infrastructure. During our visit with Outback Power, it was evident that the institution was not limiting its exposure to just one or two brands. Instead, it was ensuring that its students had a well-rounded understanding of the industry’s leading equipment.

Alongside Outback’s renowned inverters, we observed Magnum inverters prominently featured in their training labs. The Schneider SW model, recognized for its robust performance and versatility, was another standout piece of equipment that students had access to. Adding to this impressive lineup was SMA’s contributions, with both the Sunny Boy and Sunny Island models on site.

Having such diverse equipment under one roof means that technicians at Haiti Tec receive a comprehensive training experience. They aren’t just limited to theoretical knowledge; they get the chance to work hands-on with some of the industry’s top brands. From understanding the nuances of different solar panel arrays to experimenting with equipment and mastering the art of mounting solar panels, students at Haiti Tec are being groomed to be thorough professionals.

This all-encompassing approach to training, as we witnessed during our visit, is setting the stage for a new generation of technicians. Armed with knowledge and practical skills, they are ready to tackle the challenges of the ever-evolving renewable energy landscape.
